Secrets to Success

Did you know that by the year 2010, women will contribute to 60% of the wealth in the United States?  That’s right!  Women entrepreneurs in particular are on the rise and making a huge impact on our global economy.

The Institute for Women Entrepreneurs (IWE) is an organization that recognizes women business owners and their successful contributions.  This year, IWE was awarded by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), an award for Women’s Distinguished Center of Excellence.  IWE has created The Leaders of Distinction and Entrepreneurs of Distinction awards to honor those women entrepreneurs whose vision and success has inspired others.

When going about trying to come up with starting your own small business, you will first want to think of a unique and creative idea that possibly no one has ever thought of or put into action yet, or even take a business idea that is already in effect and changing it up bit to make it your own.  You will want to seek out advice from those involved in maybe someone already in the field of business in which you plan to follow in or anyone who has experience in the business world.  All it takes is some creativity, good communication/networking skills, determination, and a good work ethic to get your small business up and running!

This year two very talented entrepreneurs, Andrea and Carla Sancho, have been awarded The Entrepreneurs of Distinction award for their online retail website, WeddingCollectibles.com.  The girls’ website, which was launched in 2006, is dedicated to selling cake toppers and other fun bridal accessories.  Andrea and Carla are both excellent examples of women entrepreneurs who were able to take the great idea of selling wedding cake toppers and accessories from their parents, and presenting it through technology and social media outlets.  After both graduating from Chapman University, the girls followed in their parents’ footsteps and brought their young, fresh perspectives to the business by incorporating more technologically savvy ideas in order to expand their clientele in the wedding industry.  These very talented and motivated young women entrepreneurs, are very excited to have been honored such an award.

IWE has claimed that, Andrea and Carla’s successful business, creative use of technology, and vivacious entrepreneurial spirit, has placed them in the category of emerging companies to watch out for!
